Press Release For
Cornstalk Heights Historical Community Organization
Annual Christmas Tour of Homes

Saturday, December 10th, 2016 (Noon to 6pm)
And
Sunday, December 11th, 2016 (1pm to 6pm)

This Christmas step back in time when you visit Harriman’s Cornstalk Heights Historic Tour of Homes. Decorated for the Holiday Season, these homes display some of the glorious architectural styles of their time. This is our 26th Annual Tour of Homes where you are invited into the homes to see the unique architectural style and glorious Christmas decorations that the homeowners will show for the holiday season.

Many of these homes were built in early 1890’s when Harriman was established as a planned community by the East Tennessee Land Company. The Historic District for these homes was established in 1990 when it was established on the National Register of Historic Places. Cornstalk Heights Historical Community Organization was founded in 1994 with the mission to Protect, Preserve,  enhance and Renovate this beautiful neighborhood. Funds raised from this event and other projects go directly back into this Historic District and the City of Harriman.

Tours begin at the Harriman Carnegie Public Library, 601 Walden Street. This is a self-guided tour where you will be presented a complementary calendar providing a map of all the homes included in the tour. This calendar will also give you a brief history of each tour home along with advertisements of our sponsors and supporters.

Included in the tour is our Hospitality Center. This is where you can relax and enjoy something to drink and choose from home-made cookies and other snacks provided by the Cornstalk Heights Community.

Tours start on Saturday, December 10th, Noon until 6:00pm and Sunday, December 11th from 1pm to 6pm.
